Main Roads Minister has a wicked sense of humour or is being advised by complete dills!
In response to a question on notice from Member for Redlands Peter Dowling to Main Roads Minister Craig Wallace, the answer is ringing alarm bells for many residents across Victoria Point and Redland Bay. The question was in relation to Anita Street and associated traffic and safety issues.
The Minister has advised that Anita Street will be closed as part of a strategy to limit access to main road corridors.
"While I appreciate the strategy overall has merit, in this circumstance it can not work! Just open the street directory and blind Freddie can see Anita St has only ONE access road, said Peter Dowling.
"Unless the Minister and his advisers intend to buy a few homes to create an alternate entry or build quite a significant bridge across Moogarumpum Creek into the back of the golf course, then the plan is not a plan, Mr Dowling said.
"The Minister has also flagged other closures along Cleveland Redland Bay Road, which I have concerns about. The Minister has not nominated any particular streets but those that have issues are, Magnolia Street, Creekwood and Giles Road just to name a few", Peter Dowling said.
"Redlands has been so neglected under Labor for the past 20 years they aren’t sure where we are or what we need. The Minister would be well served by actually talking to the Local member instead of the adviser that suggested he will close Anita Street," Peter Dowling said.
