Bayside MPs promoted in LNP revamp

Bayside LNP MPs Dr Mark Robinson and Peter Dowling have been promoted to Shadow Parliamentary Secretary positions under a revamped Shadow Cabinet line-up announced by State Opposition and LNP Leader John-Paul Langbroek*.

Mr Langbroek said the Member for Cleveland and the Member for Redlands had both worked extremely hard since being elected and he was confident they would be successful in their new roles.

“Peter’s trade and sales/management experience as well as his previous position as a Redland Shire Councillor, made him the clear candidate for the role of Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Planning.

“Peter will assist Lawrence Springborg, the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in his new role as Shadow Minister for State Development, Major Projects, Infrastructure and Planning.

“Mark’s commitment to delivering improved services for Queenslanders combined with his many years of experience working with and educating young people, made him an obvious choice for the role of Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Apprenticeships and Trade Training.

“Mark will assist the Shadow Minister for Education and Training, Dr Bruce Flegg.”

Mr Langbroek said an LNP Government would have an unashamed focus on the economy and job creation, and Mr Dowling and Dr Robinson’s new roles reflected that focus.

“The LNP recognises that education is the best long term economic policy in existence. We have to broaden our education base and in turn strengthen job creation in Queensland,” Mr Langbroek said.

“We simply must make Queensland the economic powerhouse of Australia once again. We can only do that with a government and a government structure committed to driving new industry, new investment and new jobs.”

Mr Langbroek said he was determined to re-energise and refocus Government in Queensland and the LNP’s new Shadow Cabinet and the Parliamentary Secretary positions reflected the priorities for Queenslanders.

“I have moulded a Shadow Cabinet to reflect what the LNP would deliver in Government rather than simply mirroring the line-up of the long term Labor Government,” he said.

“This is about fresh ideas, fresh goals and a fresh start for Queensland.”
