Roadworks Update - Anita Street, Beveridge, Dinwoodie & Ziegenfusz Roads

Roadworks from Boundary Street, Redland Bay right through to Ziegenfusz Road, Thornlands is a sign that safer roads are a now a priority said the LNP today.

Mr Peter Dowling MP, State Member for Redlands said that after years of neglect by the Labor government he feels he has had a big win for the local community with roadworks commencing in his electorate from Ziegenfusz Road, Thornlands through to Boundary Street, Redland Bay.

Mr Dowling said, "I have worked tirelessly for the local community and submitted Questions on Notice, raised these issues in Parliament and written Letters to the Minister on numerous occasions, requesting that traffic lights be installed at the intersection of Beveridge and Redland Bay Roads adjacent to Faith Lutheran College Senior School and at the intersection of Ziegenfusz and Redland Bay Roads which allows safer access to Carmel College.”

"I am pleased that after years of requests and protests, that these upgrades are now being completed and it has all paid off. The roadworks will allow safer access for all residents including parents, students and teachers with the installation of traffic lights at both Ziegenfusz Road and Beveridge Road intersections."

Roadworks Update - Beveridge, Dinwoodie & Ziegenfusz Roads

For a while there it was a case of the Labor Government not being able to see the road for the trees – but not any more!

Cheers went up recently as clearing began around the intersections at Beveridge, Dinwoodie and Ziegenfusz Roads in preparation for the much anticipated upgrades. These intersections have been a source of concern and frustration in Redlands for many years now.

The work had been approved for quite some time, but was held up as two government departments argued about trees that needed to be removed. Throughout 2009, Peter pushed for Main Roads to set a date for work to begin and after added pressure from schools and the community the work has finally begun.

With the trees now gone, underground work will be completed soon. The lights will be installed and working, hopefully by the end of the financial year.

Parents and teachers of students at Faith Lutheran, Carmel College and the new Bayview State School will all breathe a sigh of relief when the lights are working, secure in the knowledge that the roads around our schools will be safer for everyone.
